United Newark-Houston route ranks most-delayed in country

The Newark-Houston route flown by United Air ranked as the most consistently delayed flight in the country, according to new data from the Department of Transportation's Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS). On average, United Flight 1695 was delayed more than an hour, in part due to poor weather at the Newark, New Jersey, airport.

However, United Airlines wasn't alone in their inability to get passengers to their final destinations on time. The BTS report states that 67.7 percent of flights in January 2014 were on time. In other words, one out of three flights didn't arrive on schedule.

Joining United among the airlines that proved to be the least reliable were ExpressJet Airlines, JetBlue Airways and American Eagle Airlines, all of whom had on-time rates of less than 60 percent. The longest delayed flight was Southwest Airlines flight 502 from San Diego to Chicago, which sat on the tarmac for over five hours.

While some delays are simply unavoidable due to weather and other conditions, it can be an infuriating experience to sit on a plane and feel trapped because the airline isn't interested in the customer experience. Frequent travelers know this better than anyone, which is why you don't often hear people brag about how much they have to travel for their work.

Perhaps this explains why charter jet services are becoming a popular option for businesspeople and other passengers who have become fed up with the commercial airline experience. When you charter a private plane from Easton Aviation, we're able to take you to destinations that the major airlines don't bother with. We're also committed to providing you with the best flying experience possible. For more information on why charter jets are superior to conventional flying options, contact us today!
